BOARD MEMBERS

Kenneth V. Hachikian is Chairman of the Armenian Legal Center for Justice and Human Rights.  He received a BA from Harvard University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.  He serves as president of the ANCA Endowment Fund, Inc. (“ANCA Endowment”), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Washington, DC.  He has been an active member of the Armenian American community for over forty years, having served in positions of leadership within the community.  He is an independent investment banking professional, and is Managing Partner at The Ivy Consulting Group LLC in Deerfield, Illinois.

Steve Dadaian is an attorney with over 20 years of experience, including as a trial lawyer and managing principle.  His litigation practice has focused on government liability, tort defense, sovereign immunity, public works contract law, eminent domain, and environmental and employment law.

Kevork Hagopjian is a PhD candidate in International law at the University of Vienna, Austria. He studied in the Karen Jeppe Armenian National College in Aleppo and graduated from the Law School of the Aleppo State University in 2010. Hagopjian continued his post graduate studies in the United Kingdom and received an LLM (Master of Laws) in International Law from the University of London/SOAS in 2013. He is a fellow with the United Nations Office of the High Commissionaire for Human Rights and has work experience with the UNDP, law firms, social foundations and international organizations.  He has 12 years of experience as a member of several Armenian National Committees. In addition, he is a columnist in Armenian newspapers and is actively involved in legal research, community service, youth & social activities, human rights advocacy, inter-cultural dialogue as well as participating in international conferences, symposiums and forums. He is fluent in Armenian, English, Arabic and Turkish and has a basic knowledge of German.

Armen K. Hovannisian graduated summa cum laude from UC Berkeley, and later from the UCLA Law School. He served as Chairperson of the Armenian Bar Association in the early 1990’s, and has been an active member and leader of the organization since the inception.

Khajaque Kortian is a legal practitioner, specializing for more than 25 years in intellectual property law, in particular litigation and conflict resolution. For over 20 years, he has been a Principal of one of the oldest and leading intellectual property firms in Asia-Pacific.  He is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Federal Court Australia and High Court of Australia, as well as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.  He is also a Registered Australian Trade Mark Attorney.

 

Mr. Kortian has been involved in public advocacy for human rights issues and Armenian-Australian community affairs for many years. He previously served on the Board of Directors of ANC Australia (including as President) for more than 20 years.  He was one of the founding committee members of the Macquarie University Centre for Comparative Genocide Studies, now known as the Australian Institute for Holocaust & Genocide Studies, with which he is still involved.  From 2008 to 2016, he served on the Board of Hamazkaine – Arshak & Sophie Galstaun College and in late 2015 was appointed again to the Board of Directors of the ANC Australia, and has served as Chair, and currently as Vice-Chair of the board.

 

Mr. Kortian received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Guiragos Manoyan has studied political science at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Since 2001, Mr. Manoyan has been the Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee – International, based in Yerevan, Armenia. From 1982 to 1999, in Montreal, Mr. Manoyan has served as the Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of Canada, also Assistant Editor then Editor-in-Chief of the trilingual Horizon Armenian Weekly. Since 2011, he is a member of the Republic of Armenia State Commission on Coordination of the Events for the Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
