\"kate_nahapetian_speaking\"<\/p>\n

Kate Nahapetian is Executive Director of the Armenian Legal Center for Justice and Human Rights.\u00a0 Prior to her posting, she was the Government Affairs Director for the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA), where she advocated for Armenian American concerns before Members of Congress and the Administration and her work included helping coordinate efforts to file\u00a0amicus<\/em>\u00a0briefs for life insurance class actions emanating from the Armenian Genocide.\u00a0 In addition to experience as an attorney litigating complex class actions, Ms. Nahapetian has worked for the U.S. Department of Justice, then Senator Joseph Biden, the Carnegie Endowment for International, and Mental Disability Rights International.<\/p>\n

Ms. Nahapetian received a J.D. with a focus on international and human rights law from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law, which was partly funded through the prestigious Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans.\u00a0 After graduating magna cum laude<\/em>\u00a0with a degree in International Studies from American University, Ms. Nahapetian received a Konrad Adenauer Foundation Fellowship to pursue graduate studies in Germany.<\/p>\n

Her publications include, \u201cConfronting State Complicity in International Law\u201d in the\u00a0UCLA Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs <\/em>and \u201cSelective Justice: Prosecuting Rape in the International Criminal Tribunals of the Former Yugoslavia and Rwanda\u201d in the\u00a0Berkeley Women’s Law Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n
